Change has officially begun!
Wow! What an amazing day yesterday was! I am so excited and happy to see the collective energy present at the swearing in of our 44th president. Truly a historic day in American history and one that will not be forgotten for generations to come. I am proud of what we have done as Americans.
They say there were upwards of 1.5 million people there to witness history in the making. I really wish I could have been there to absorb all the good vibes.
Although Obama's speech was somber, I think his message to all of America was extremely clear. We need to get off our asses and do our bit to make America a respectable nation once again. The illusion of prosperity of the past 8 years has really screwed things up for not only the country but for the world and it's our responsibility as a world leader to tighten up our belts and pitch in to help fix what was damaged and at the same time take us into a new era. I am excited!

As someone who participated in the inauguration, having flown in from San Francisco, I must admit that having spent the last 4 days with upwards of 1.8 million people, chilly weather (colder than at Uglycon NY or Uglycon SF!), it was well worth the expense and occasional inconvenience. Being able to hear almost 2 million people roar in approval and celebration when President Obama took the oath was an amazing experience. Seeing the excitement on the faces of the crowds, the cheers, the goodwill, it has been a great memory.
Hearing the chilly reception that George W. Bush received when he was announced was both sad, for him, but also impressive. Have you ever heard a collective 1.8 million people "boo" at the same time and sing "Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, Good-Bye"? What a send send off.
